2015 Nick and Lou

Nick was the first Clydesdale I ever spent time with.  I first noticed him when he was in his paddock as I was headed to Cigar’s Memorial Service at the Kentucky Horse Park.  After attending the service in The Hall of Champions I made my way back to Nick and Lou was right behind him.  Nick seemed like he loved the wind that Winter day.  He hung with me for a while before moving over to Lou.  I found them to be very photogenic.

I volunteered the following summer at The Big Barn but Nick had been retired by that time.  I was told he had issues keeping weight on and was sick a lot.  Lou was still in the barn and in good spirits.  Later he was retired and they both were adopted by the same lady.  This made me happy.  They were given to the KHP as a pair and left as one.
