One of the most visited parks in Kentucky is Natural Bridge, which is in Slade.  The park was established in 1926.  It has over 2400 acres that is a protected nature preserve, which borders Daniel Boone Natural Forest. The Natural Bridge which the park is named for is made of Sandstone and is 78 feet long, 65 feet high, 12 feet thick and 20 feet wide.  It has stood in Kentucky thousands of years.

Natural Bridge Park hosts over 19 miles of trails.  There are 12 trails which are:  The Original Trial, Balanced Rock, Battleship Trail, Rock Garden, Sand Gap, Hood’s Branch, Henson’s Arch, Lakeside, Laurel Ridge, Low Gap, Upper Hood’s Branch, and Whittleton.  There are also three additional areas:  Devil’s Gulch, Lover’s Leap, and Lookout Point.  The trail I usually hike is the Hood’s Branch trail, which is located off to the side of the restrooms and ice cream shop.  Then I take the Laurel Ridge Trail.  For further information see the Kentucky Parks website at http://parks.ky.gov/parks/resortparks/natural-bridge/trails.aspx
