The first Summer I spent in Midway I strapped a backpack on with my Nikon and took off down the road to photograph the Farms on Midway Road. I am an avid hiker so the 7 miles till the end did not make me turn back. I stocked up on bottled water and hit the road. It was a day before my birthday and also 95 degrees outside. I think next time I will pick a day not so warm.
Through the initial neighborhood of Midway I traveled snapping photos of flowers from the sidewalk. They included Hibiscus, Roses, Day Lilies, Hydrangeas, and Dahlias. I passed by harvested rolls of hay as well as a creek a Blue Heron loves to visit.
Finally I got to the horses grazing on the green grasses outside. Yes, pastures have more than one type of grass. Some grasses are nutritious, while others are not. I learned that while listening to a lecture on pasture management, but that is another post. Most of the horses I saw along my hike were mares with foals. Also I saw fillies and colts playing with one another in the fields. The stallions were inside or in back paddocks on this day.
My favorite models of the day was a mare who decided I was a kindred spirit and brought her foal closer to me. The mare also looked like she was in foal to another stallion. On her halter she had a name plate with “Bobby’s Girl” on it. She is a beautiful mare with a sassy kid.
The day ended with a 7 mile hike back to my duplex. I was beyond sweating and my water had run out. I will do another hike again soon. I will probably take another route and conduct it earlier in the morning when it is cooler out.
I have included a gallery below of the photos I took that day. I also compiled a video of the photos with music and placed it on my Youtube Channel. You can also access it under the tab, HBB Channel. Thank you for Visiting!
